Giclée (pronounced jee-clay) is a term used to describe an ink jet printing process in combination with computerized imaging and fine art printmaking techniques. Derived from the French, it is loosely translated "to spray or squirt " which is an appropriate description of the inkjet printing method. The printer uses minute droplets of archival ink that produces a print with no visible dot screen pattern. The finished Giclée print has all of the subtle color detail of the original artwork. The archival inks assure a high quality, long-lasting artwork. Brilliant color and rich texture have made Giclée prints the reproduction of choice for artists, photographers, museums, galleries, and collectors.
